New Education policy 2020
Keeping quality, innovation, and research in mind, the Union Cabinet of India on 29th July 2020 approved the National Education Policy 2020. The policy aims to transform India's education system by 2040 by enacting numerous changes in India's education policy.
It aims to increase state expenditure on education from around 4% to 6% of the GDP. Some of the primary features of the policy are:
- The medium of instruction until class 5 and preferably beyond should be in regional languages.
- The "10 + 2" structure will be replaced with a "5+3+3+4" model in the four stages: the Foundational Stage, the Preparatory Stage, the Middle Stage, and the Secondary Stage.
- Instead of exams being held every academic year, school students will only answer three exams in classes 3, 5, and 8.
- Coding will be introduced from class 6, and experiential learning will be adopted.
For higher education, it proposes a multi-disciplinary bachelor’s degree in an undergraduate program with multiple exit options. It also proposes to discontinue MPhil courses. Moreover, it puts forward many policy changes when it comes to teachers, like, to become a teacher, a four year Bachelor of Education will be the minimum requirement needed by 2030.
The previous National Education Policy was framed in 1986 and modified in 1992. More than three decades have passed since that policy was brought. That is why a new Education Policy is needed to gear us up with the requirements of today’s time. And this NEP 2020 serves that purpose. (248 Words)
नयी शिक्षा नीति, 2020
गुणवत्ता, नवाचार तथा शोध को ध्यान में रखते हुए भारत के केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने 29 जुलाई 2020 को राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति, 2020 को मंजूरी दी। इस नीति का लक्ष्य 2040 तक भारत की शिक्षा नीति में कई परिवर्तनों को लागू करके भारत की शिक्षा व्यवस्था को बदलना है।
इसका लक्ष्य शिक्षा पर राज्य के व्यय को जीडीपी के लगभग 4% से बढ़ाकर लगभग 6% करना है। इस नीति की कुछ मुख्य विशेषताएँ इस प्रकार हैं:
- कक्षा 5 तक तथा उसके बाद भी (यदि संभव हो) शिक्षा का माध्यम क्षेत्रीय भाषा होगी।
- "10 + 2" संरचना को चार चरणों वाले "5+3+3+4 मॉडल से बदला जाएगा. जिनके नाम बुनियादी चरण, प्रारंभिक चरण मध्य चरण, तथा द्वितीयक चरण होंगे।
- प्रत्येक शैक्षणिक वर्ष में होने वाली परीक्षाओं के बजाय, विद्यालय के छात्र केवल तीन परीक्षाओं में शामिल होंगे, जो कक्षा 3 5 तथा 8 में होंगी।
- कक्षा 6 से कोडिंग की शिक्षा दी जाएगी तथा प्रयोगात्मक ज्ञान को बढ़ावा दिया जाएगा।
उच्च शिक्षा के लिए, यह एक स्रातक कार्यक्रम में बहु-विषयक स्रातक की डिग्री का प्रस्ताव करता है जिसमें कई निकास विकल्प होंगे। इसमें एम. फिल पाठ्यक्रम को समाप्त करने का प्रस्ताव दिया गया है। साथ ही, शिक्षक बनने के लिए 2030 तक न्यूनतम आवश्यकता 4 वर्षीय शिक्षा में स्नातक की डिग्री होगी।
पिछली राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति 1986 में तैयार की गयी थी तथा 1992 में संशोधित की गयी थी। उस नीति के आने के बाद से तीन दशक बीत गए हैं। इसलिए आज के समय की आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति के लिए नयी शिक्षा नीति बेहद आवश्यक थी। (254 Words)
One Nation One Exam (CET) : Merits and Demerits
To streamline the recruitment process, the Government has decided to conduct a Common Entrance Test for railway, banks and Central government jobs from 2021.
CET will replace the first level tests conducted by the SSC, RRB, and IBPS. There will be a common Portal for registration, a single entrance fee, and a common curriculum. CET will serve as a level playing field for all candidates by removing obstacles involved in appearing for multiple examinations. It will bring transparency in all recruitment examinations and overcome the irregularities and misconducts in the exams. It will minimize the chances of paper leaks as a standardized question bank with multiple questions of similar difficulty levels will be created in a central server. Scores will be generated quickly, delivered online, and be valid for a three-year period. It will lead to huge savings in logistics. In the future, CET scores may be further used by State Governments, if they so desire.
However, the implementation of CET is going to be a daunting task. It will require quality infrastructure that can support lakhs of candidates, which can be quite expensive. There will be an overhaul of the complete exam pattern and veterans who have been preparing for some time will find it difficult to understand. Language can be a major issue if the exam is conducted only in English and Hindi. Other challenges include an increase in difficulty level of exam and competition because of a larger number of aspirants.
If implemented properly, it will make the recruitment process more cost and time effective, benefitting several candidates. (261 Words)

भर्ती प्रक्रिया को कारगर बनाने के लिए सरकार ने रेलवे बैंकों और केंद्र सरकार की नौकरियों के लिए 2021 से कॉमन एंट्रेंस टेस्ट आयोजित करने का निर्णय लिया है।
